Uber’s biggest rival, Lyft, is investigating claims that employees were misusing private data of customers.
Allegations of drivers tracking the rides of their romantic partners and even celebrities including Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg were posted online by a current or former employee.
This could be a hoax, however, as the user used an app called Blind to anonymously report the allegations. Blind does not verify users posts meaning this complaint could be nonsense.
Regardless, Lyft said it is investigating the matter but added it had not received any complaints.
“Maintaining the trust of passengers and drivers is fundamental to Lyft,” spokeswoman Alexandra LaManna said.
“The specific allegations in this post would be a violation of Lyft’s policies and a cause for termination, and have not been raised with our legal or executive teams.”
“Employees are required to sign confidentiality and responsible use agreements that bar them from accessing, using, or disclosing customer data outside the confines of their job responsibilities.”
