Smart coffee machines can be expensive, ranging from around $80 to $400 for regular models, and fancier ones retailing for around $2000!
But if you don’t need anything flashy, simply get a smart plug and a basic coffee machine with a rocker switch on the side!
Buying these things brand new would only cost around $20 and if you get a used coffee maker like I did (Goodwill is great for used coffee makers), you can spend less than half that.
Simply set up your smart plug as you would any other and name it “Coffee Maker”.
Then each night, prepare your coffee maker for the morning. Add a filter, coffee, and water and while the coffee maker is turned off via the smart plug, flip the switch on the coffee maker to the “on” position.
Then in the morning when you wake up, simply ask Alexa or Google to “turn on the Coffee Maker”. Your coffee will start brewing.
This isn’t a completely smart method and you can’t control the individual functions of your coffee maker, but it’s by far the cheapest option.
