Superlux HD-660 Headphones Review

Let’s get the elephant in the room out of the way.

These headphones might look familiar to you because they look very similar to the much-higher-priced Beyerdynamic DT 770s.

These are the Superlux HD-660’s, a Chinese clone of the Beyerdynamic DT-770’s.

They’re closed-back over-the-ear headphones with a 3m coiled cable which has a 3.5mm jack on the end, and includes a quarter-inch adapter.

Build Quality

The first thing you notice is how cheap they feel.

There are a couple of metal bits but the majority is made of plastic.

This is not unlike the Beyerdynamic DT 770’s but the Superlux HD 660’s feel more fragile. Perhaps they were made from cheaper plastic.

Although, after using them almost every day for months, I haven’t had any problems and they still look just as good as they did new.

Comfort

Let’s put it this way, I’ve worn comfier headphones but I’ve also worn much less comfy headphones.

For short-term use, they’ll be fine, but your ears do start to ache after a while so be sure to have a break every now and then.

I think if you replaced the leather-style ear cups with, some velour ones off the Beyer DT 770s, then they’d be a million times comfier.

The Sound

These are bloody good, surprisingly good.

These retail for about , and these are far superior to other 30 quid headphones that I’ve had

I’d even go so far to say that they’re almost as good as the actual Beyerdynamic DT 770s.

I say almost because there’s just something not quite there with these.

But overall, they’re pretty good headphones for the price.
