One small step for man, one giant leap for… 4G telephone networks, it seems.
Vodafone and Nokia have teamed up and are planning to put a 4G satellite on the Moon next year.
The high speed network will be used to transmit high definition video from the lunar surface and allow Audi rovers to communicate with each other.
The vehicles are exploring the Moon as a potential human habitat. The introduction of 4G will be the first step to initiating a communications infrastructure on the lunar surface for future missions.
This mission will be the first ever privately-funded Moon landing.
